Philip Sanderson used his knowledge of the Paarl Golf Club to etch out a one shot win in the first Mid-Amateur Series game which was played at the Paarl Golf Club.

With 81 players playing on the day, the interest in the Mid-Amateur Series has shown a need for this level of golf at this level and the Boland and Western Province Golf Unions both expect this division of the competitive game to grow as players become aware of the games.

Phillip's knowledge of the course comes from the fact that just a year ago, Phillip was a member of the Paarl Golf Club. His three under par round 69 (-3) was good enough to edge out another Paarl member, Michel Frost who shot a 70 (-2) to take second place. Three players shared the spoils for thrid on one under par 71's. (Jonothan Bernard; Lukas Lonte and Riaan vd Walt.)
