2012 Boland Liga
Die jaar is besig om vinnige momentum te neem en so is dit dan ook tyd vir die 2012 Boland Liga om amptelik op 11 Februarie 2012 te begin.
Die Premier Liga maak weer sy verskeining in ons liga nadat hierdie liga laas in 2008 gespeel is. Die volgende 4 Klubs sal wedywer om hierdie trofee: Devonvale, Kuilsrivier, Stellenbosch en SAPS/Langebaan. Die formaat sal 8 spelers per span wees wat in die oggend "Foursomes" en "Single match play" in die middag sal speel.
Die Brodie liga neem ook 'n nuwe formaat aan. Soos in die verlede sal dit hoofsaaklik "Singles match play" vanaf spelers se voorgee, en addisioneel vir die 2012 seisoen, sal 'n "Betterball match play" gesamentlik gespeel word.
In die Kruger liga neem 15 spanne deel in 'n "singles match play". Met die 4 spanne wat uit hierdie liga geskuif het na die Premier liga, gaan ons die oorblywende spanne met valkoë dophou om te sien wie hierdie jaar as wenner gekroon word, aangesien Stellenbosch vir die afgelope 2 jaar onoorwonne was en nou nie meer hier gaan meeding nie.

Cedric Rooi dominates at Citrusdal
The Citrusdal Golf Club played host to their 2012 Citrusdal Open this passed weekend at the picturesque Citrusdal Golf Club. As the Boland relented to the heat over the past weekend, so to did the par 70 layout at Citrusdal, relent to the display put on by Boland's Cedric Rooi.
The ever popular Citrusdal Open this year competed with the likes of the Gauteng North Open on the National calendar and despite losing some of Boland's top players to the national event, the field on display at the Citrusdal Open continued to do justice to the event with 3 of the top 5 players on the Boland OOM playing.
Things got off to a gentle start as only three players managed to dip below par on the par 70 layout. Jacquin Hess was the best of the morning with a 68 (-2) and was closely followed by Mark Mahoney and Cedric Rooi who both shot one under par 69's. This did not provide any insight into the scoring that would occur in the afternoon as these three players fought for the trophy.
Jacquin Hess, following the 68 of the morning played superlative golf in the afternoon to post a five under par 65 in the afternoon and a 133 (-7) total for the day. Jacquin would have been forgiven had he believed that this was enough for the title, but as he played with Mark Mahoney, he would have known that he had been caught. Marks six under par 64 in the afternoon leaving him on 133 and tied with Jacuin on -7 for the day......in a distant second place!
Cedric Rooi took the game to his fellow players and his final round 60 (-10) allowed him to finish on -11 for the day and a three shot win.
Cedric's 60 is a course record at the citrusdal Golf club and the lowest score reurned in any Boland sanctioned Open.
We take this opportunity to congratulate Cedric on his outstanding achievement.

Nico Smit 75 + 66 = 141
